Jackelyn Hurtado
Manual Osteopath
DOMP, Cranial Sacral Therapist
Jackelyn has always had a huge love for the science behind the beautiful intricacies of the human body and helping individuals. She knew that her ideal career would be in a field that reflected both her passions. With this goal in mind, this led her to pursue a career as an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner.
Jackelyn finished as a top student academically at the National Academy of Osteopathy and was a favourite practitioner amongst the patients that visited the student clinic during her practicum. Prior to graduating, she completed an internship of 1000 hours which helped her gain additional insight into the uniqueness of each individual and the circumstances around acute and chronic pain. She was also called to work as a teacher’s assistant at her school after graduating.
Jackelyn has taken a number of courses to further her training which includes: -TMJD Advanced Training Course in Functional Neuromuscular Activation Therapy - Craniosacral Therapy - Cupping & Gua sha - Low Intensity Laser Therapy - Treating the Obstetrical and Pediatric Patient - Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR) Jackelyn also decided to become a Reiki Practitioner as she believes that during a time of healing, that all aspects of self- body, mind, spirit- should be addressed. Moreover, due to every individual being unique, Jackelyn believes that adding different types of modalities is of utmost importance as each individual can benefit from the modalities differently.
Jackelyn works on the basis that the body is a self-healing, functioning unit, where all systems interrelate structurally and functionally. She treats each patient accordingly, her goal being to find the root cause of the painful symptoms and/or dysfunctions. In doing this, the quality of life of her patients improve. She is also currently studying to become a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner/Acupuncturist. In her free time, Jackelyn loves reading about health & wellness, listening to uplifting & scientific podcasts and being with her fur babies. Jackelyn's specialty lies in Pediatric and Prenatal Osteopathy which includes an expertise in Craniosacral therapy. She also has a special interest practice in Osteoasthetics.
