Kinesiology Taping

When most people think of kinesiology taping they think of top athletes covered in brightly colored strips of tape. Although athletes do benefit from kinesiology taping, it has many great benefits for everyone. This is because taping is used to decompress layers of skin, fascial, and muscle tissue in order to improve circulation and movement in an area. By adding tape to an area that is painful, we can increase the circulation through that area, decompress the pain receptors in the skin and therefore provide pain relief.
The decompressive effect of kinesiology taping can also decrease trigger points in an area, help increase lymph drainage, increase body awareness and increase mobility. It has many great applications for acute injuries as well as more chronic conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, joint pain, fascial restrictions, nerve entrapments, and postural corrections. The tape that we use varies in its adhesive level and is latex free so it is suitable for most skin types. It is also safe to get wet and typically remains on the skin for 3-5 days after initial application.
